We have recently become aware of fraudulent activities where individuals are impersonating our company and using part of our domain name to contact people about remote job offers. These offers may be part of a scam intended to collect personal or financial information.

How to Identify a Scam

Be cautious if you receive a communication claiming to be from us that:

  • Uses an email address or domain that is not official (e.g., something other than @codifymedia.com).
  • Requests personal, banking, or other sensitive information upfront.
  • Asks for payment or fees for processing applications.
  • Seems suspicious or too good to be true.

Legitimate communications from our company will:

  • Always come from an official @codifymedia.com email address.
  • Never ask for money at any stage of the recruitment process.
  • Never contact you via WhatsApp or Telegram at any stage of the recruitment process.
  • Provide clear and verifiable details about the role and our recruitment process.

What to Do If You Are Contacted

If you suspect you have received a fraudulent job offer or other communication, please:

  1. Do not share any personal or financial information.
  2. Do not click on any suspicious links or download attachments.
  3. Report the incident to WhatsApp and to us immediately via one of the following methods:

Report a Scam

To help us investigate and take action, please provide as much information as possible, including:

  • A screenshot or copy of the suspicious communication.
  • The sender’s email address, phone number, or website link.
  • Any other relevant details, such as the content of the message.

 

Report to Relevant Authorities

  • Action Fraud: Report the scam to Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting center for fraud and cybercrime.
    • Call their helpline at 0300 123 2040.
    • Use their online reporting tool.
  • Trading Standards: Contact your local Trading Standards office via Citizens Advice to report the misuse.
    • Phone: 0808 223 1133 (Consumer Helpline).
  • Outside UK:  Contact your local Authorities.
